Fault lines
“We live in a world run through with Fault Lines. Al Jazeera’s Fault Lines takes you beyond the headlines and holds the powerful to account as we examine the US’ role in the world.”
Since 2018 I have DP’ed over 15 episodes of Al Jazeera’s Fault Lines. Each episode is a half hour hosted documentary investigation into a single issue. Each episode is filmed over the course of 10-14 days in the field with a 3 person crew (Producer, Host, DP). The skeleton crew taught me to be resourceful and creative when using available light, while shooting interviews handheld with a single camera. Due to the constraints of the show, we did not have a chance to scout locations and minimal set up time. It was a fun challenge, and the naturalness gave a sense of increased authenticity and intimacy with our subjects.
